Company Description: Longhorn Cellars is a small boutique winery founded in 2018, located near Fredericksburg, Texas, Longhorn Cellars specializes in producing small batch, hand crafted, premium wines primarily from fruit grown in Texas. Along with its sister vineyard, Veraison Hills Vineyard, focuses on growing grapevine varieties that originated in the warm to hot regions of Europe. These grapevine varieties are well suited to the Texas Hill Country and Texas Hill Plains terroir and produce superior wines. Current annual production is approximately 1500 cases.

Job Summary: This is a full time position with a primary responsibility to ensure all winemaking task are completed in a timely manner with a focus on quality. This is a hands on position that consist of winemaking duties in a small-scale production facility under the direct supervision of the winemaker. Being able and motivated to coordinate and complete all required of task even in the absence of onsite supervision of winemaker. Duties also will include some routine vineyard activities assisting vineyard crew, assisting and performing tastings in the tasting room, barrel tastings and production facility tours. Will require some overtime and weekend duties during harvest and fermentation.

Job Task: Most common task that you would be performing include routine cleaning and sanitation of all winery equipment, collecting vineyard, must and wine samples for analysis, performing basic analytical testing, preparing samples for submission to reference winery lab, use of small production winery equipment including destemming, additions / inoculation of grape must, pressing, pumping, punch downs, racking, barrel topping, use of forklift in a very restrictive space. Should be safety focused and aware of risk associated with wine production, fermentation, fork-lift operation and stacking wine barrels in confined spaces. Following and observing all safe cellar practices. Other duties as assigned by winemaker, vineyard foreman or tasting room manager.

Skills and Qualifications: Winery and forklift experience is a much preferred. Excellent attendance and promptness are absolute requirements. Have good communication skills and a positive attitude. Be able to work alone or with others. Be able to lift 55 pounds, climb ladders, have good coordination and able to work in confined spaces. Some enology education is much preferred. Preference will be given for at least partial completion of some enology educational programs such as enology certificate programs, associates degree or bachelor’s degree in enology or associated programs.

Salary: Based on experience and education. Will be in the 35-45K annual range.
